We got the first load of grapes this morning, about 2 tonnea of chardonnay. Mostly a test run to make sure all the equipment (and workers) operate smoothly together. Which it did. And while the grapes were still in the recieving hopper they were blessed by father chris and brother john may, and said a nice harvest prayer. And we all said Amen.
Last weekend we did go wine tasting, went with Sarah and Ryu, Rach (all from lesingham) and my coworker Will, we went to just a few places... Jim barry, Knappstein (which also brewed a decent lager), Tim Adams, Paulett wines, and Pikes. Stopping at the Sevenhill pub for lunch... Still haven't been to my own winery to taste yet...
Last week we had the new guys start. Edward (eddy) who is very green (1st crush, inexperienced) and Richard (who has me a little worried) he's got a wine making degree and has been travelling around the world making wine but asks too many questions about how to do things he should have done a hundred times or setup a up things the wrong way and kind of looks like he has partyed a little too much...think long hair, bucket hat, Hawaiian shirt... Margaritaville. He just seem a little confused and need help with everything... Hold his hand through the difficult things, something there won't be time with soon. Maybe he's just a little rusty... I hope.
Later in the week I was interviewed by work for the wineclub/church newsletter/magazine. Wasn't sure what to say... "so what drew u to Clare to work the vintage?"... Umm they offered a job, haha
This weekend was a little interesting... Friday night hung out with sarah and ryu and their shy roommate. We split a few bottles of wine, some good, some awful (sweet cab? Bla), and we ended up at their friends place, Sarah and luke, meeting up with Rach too. Where we all made a huge mistake, we all drank sparkling wine till we could drink no more ( and we all regreted it in the morning, all had the worst hangover) Rach and I had a little moment, she's a nice girl. Was a gentleman and walked her home, not that it would have changed anything but it was about 45 minutes walk back home. And really wishing there was a Muchas Gracias in town for a 3am chimicanga!!! Next day, or I should say evening since it wasn't till then that I felt human again, Rach and I, and Ryu and Sarah "double dated" for valentines day. Which ended up being the longest wait for chinese food... Ever! We waited for over 2 hours, and had to get more water and drinks ourselves. I'm just glad it was delicious and there was plenty for leftovers!
And Sunday was lazy, hng out with Rach, Sarah and luke, then Rach's roomies watching pirated movies all day (seven pounds, benjamin buttons) and cricket (which im really starting to like, now that i understand how the game is played) and reality tv. Had a great BBQ.
Like I said first load in today (Mon), more tomorrow! And Liz had me working the lab doing vineyard samples today and all of them are very close if not ready to be picked... Feels like it's about to hit the fan!! Which I can't wait for, just hope these new guys keep up and gain some confidence with us.
Goodnight! Xoxo

"...go to Muchas for some friggin' arroz con pollo..."
"Muchas!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
-- Actual quotes from Thomas Remiyac
Umm I could be mistaken but I think it was a chimichanga con pollo
I stand corrected. I knew it didn't sound quite right when I typed it! Either way, it's your pronunciation of "pollo" that is the most memorable!!
Such the gentleman Thomas! You had a better Vday than me. I ate pizza and ice cream with Emma. But I had 3 dates throughout the week, so it made up for it. Still have another date coming up. Hey, its all about getting the free food - I mean meeting the right person...?
